YouTube Communication

Over the past year, I have taken to filming myself reading my monthly principal letter and posting it on YouTube. My thinking is that it allows a different medium for families to hear and share the message.

Typically, it takes between 10-30 minutes to draft and edit the letter; then another 20-30 minutes to film, edit, and post it via YouTube. The views tend to number in the 10-20 range (of course I do not know the overlap with those that read it).

I’m considering dropping it or taking a different approach.

One idea, I’ve always thought of is to have students from the various grades read it to encourage the community to view/hear it. I’m not sure if that’s a good idea from a logistical standpoint, however.

Thoughts welcome.

And here’s a link to the video for this month.

I’m all about the high production values.
