On Catholic Ed and the World of a Principal

This is an activity that I’ve done with my kids to reinforce what they are working on in school.

Objective: Students will use adjectives and descriptive phrases to add detail to their depiction of a creature.

Standard: W3.3

AI Component: Using Generative AI, put your description in to create an image using the following prompt, “You are an artist, create cartoon based on my description. [Insert your description].”

After writing their descriptions, students copy and paste their writing into the LLM using the prompt above to generate a picture. Students then analyze what AI produces in light of their writing.

Reflection questions:

1. How close was what AI produced to your imagination?
2. How close was what AI produced to your description?
3. What can you add or take away to have the image better match your imagination?

Sample:

“You are an artist, create cartoon based on my description. A dinosaur in a school.”

“You are an artist, create cartoon based on my description. A pack of raptors running in the hallway of a school.”

“You are an artist, create cartoon based on my description. A pack of angry raptors chasing scared kids down the hallway of a school.”
