Based on a January, 2026 article “Lessons for England on using AI to boost attendance” by Huw Powerll on Schools Week.
This short article discussed using exported attendance data to identify patterns, create personalized reports for each pupil, and analyze it.
Some of the patterns recognized were: “Seeing patterns of absence across terms or individual months, and noting patterns of absences related to specific age groups or gender, or pupils from one area of the city compared to others.” which lead to: “When we know an event is likely to affect a particular group, we can contact parents in advance to emphasise the importance of attendance. We can even cross-reference weather patterns to understand how they influence attendance.”
I would be reluctant to create a personalized student report in a non-secure AI system; but the idea of trends could be very helpful!
